These Military Families paid the Ultimate sacrifice, allowing their children to serve our country.

But in protecting our freedom, Their Loved ones lost their lives.

During the holiday Season, these families say they find it especially hard to deal with the grim reality that their Solider is never coming home.

Regina Shipp, a founding member of the "Gold Star Mothers" in Harlingen and mother of fallen solider SGT. Darrell Ship, invited about 35 family members of other fallen soldiers to a luncheon at "Ol'd's Soda Shop in downtown Harlingen.

She says "it helps a lot because you know there are a lot of parents out there that lost their son and daughter, and sometimes you don't have anybody to talk to and once you get involved with the Gold Star Families, its helps a lot".

The families say coping through the holidays is tough, but the season soon will pass, however, they hope no one will ever forget the sacrifices their children and families made.
