Three men are behind bars after they allegedly tried to smuggle 200 pounds of marijuana over the border fence in Los Indios.

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested the three men on federal drug charges on Monday night.

Border Patrol agents saw four men on the American side of the border fence who fled into a sugar cane field.

Agents found four bundles with 200 pounds of marijuana at the scene and three men:

• Jesus Rene Beltran-Rodriguez, 32
• Julian Javier Rosas-Martinez, 41
• Sergio Arturo Sanchez-Roel, 19

All three men appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Felix Recio in Brownsville on Wednesday morning.

Citizenship and residency information for the three men was not immediately available.

Judge Recio denied bond for all three men until a Friday morning hearing.
