A Los Fresnos woman is behind bars after deputies found about five pounds of cocaine in her car.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Investigations agents charged 41-year-old Maria Luisa Sanchez with federal drug charges on Friday.

Court records released in the case show that a Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputy pulled Sanchez over for a traffic violation on Thursday.

Sanchez allegedly admitted that she had something illegal in her Ford Focus.

Deputies searched her car and found 5.07 pounds of cocaine inside.

Sanchez appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Ronald Morgan on Friday morning.

Public records show that her last known address was listed off West 1st Street in Los Fresnos.

Judge Morgan denied bond for Sanchez until a Wednesday afternoon hearing.
