One of the Rio Grande Valley's most enduring legal sagas is expected to come to an end on Monday afternoon.
All six remaining defendants in the PSJA Independent School District bribery scandal are expected to face a federal judge for sentencing.
Former Superintendent Arturo Guajardo and five former school board members are expected to appear before U.S. District Court Judge Ricardo Hinojosa at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Court records show that the six filed a flurry of paperwork during Thanksgiving week.
Sentencing for the case has been posted numerous times but Judge Hinojosa denied two recent requests request to postpone the sentencing.
The defendants filed their objections to their presentencing report, which makes recommendations on what their punishment should be.
Former Superintendent Guajardo is asking for probation in the case showing 19 letters of support from public officials and others in his request.
