Kitchen photos obtained by the Food Patrol highlight what health inspectors have called “unsafe” food handling practices inside a McAllen low performer restaurant.
Picosito’s #2 on 5000 North 23rd Street was temporarily shut down by the health department for 27 demerits.
The list of violations included: food on the floor, meat next to produce, dirty tables and live roaches in the kitchen.
The Food Patrol pushed the eatery’s manager for answers into the dirty dining.
Jesus Villagran is in charge at Picosito’s.
He blamed a busy lunch hour at the time kitchen cops arrived.
When asked why “service” was put before proper “sanitation,” Villagran admitted changes needed to be made.
