An assistant superintendent for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District has resigned amid growing allegations of sexual harassment, according to a school district source.
As Action 4 News first broke earlier this week, Rigoberto Abrego was placed on suspension with pay on October 22nd.
The assistant superintendent for finance and operations was facing allegations from six female workers in clerical positions.
A district source close to the internal investigation said Abrego resigned Friday evening in lieu of termination.
The school district's attorney, Jacques Treviño, would neither confirm nor deny Abrego is permanently off the job.
