The new owner of a Harlingen convenience store, infamous on Food 4 Thought for its’ rat-infested kitchen and former owner who locked the Food Patrol inside, wants a second chance.
               
Jai Sudheer is one of two brothers who bought the Shamrock ‘In and Out’ mart on 619 Harrison Avenue.
               
Back in 2007, the convenience store was virtually blacklisted by many Food Patrol fans who were angered after watching the former owner ‘unlawfully restrain’ the Food Patrol for reporting on dirty dining.
               
The kitchen had a rat infestation.
               
Harlingen’s health director later called it, “the worst he’s ever seen.”
               
Sudheer also saw that video but still went ahead with the purchase of the business in 2009.
               
He never imagined how the former owner’s actions would still impact his bottom line.
               
Sudheer said his own friends even questioned why he took over the place.
              
 “Still my friends say that’s the store… the bad store… where the guy was really rude to Channel 4,” Sudheer said.
               
That’s why he personally invited the Food Patrol back to see the changes made inside.
               
“Healthy food we have now,” Sudheer said.  “I wanted to give very good service to the community here.”
