A Brownsville woman has been charged in a case where authorities found marijuana plants growing in her 4-month-old daughter’s bedroom and the rest of the house full of dog feces and urine.
Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Maria Guadalupe Herrera on multiple criminal charges on Monday.
The 21-year-old mother is accused of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and child endangerment.
Deputies arrested Herrera’s husband Carlos Alberto Moreno last week after a drug investigation led authorities to their Glenbrook Drive home.
Moreno posted $60,000 dollars in bonds in the case last week.
Court records show that investigators found marijuana plants being grown in the couple’s 4-month-old daughter’s bedroom.
The couple also allegedly had three dogs that had urinated and left feces scattered throughout their home.
Deputies did not arrest Herrera at the time because she could not find somebody to take their baby.
Records show that Herrera was booked into the Cameron County Jail on Monday. She has since posted bond and been released.
Child Protective Services told Action 4 News that they are aware of the incident but could neither confirm nor deny a case from their agency.
