Texas State Rep. Veronica Gonzales slid into her fourth term of office.

The McAllen Democrat made history when she became the first woman elected to District 41.

That district includes Palmhurst, Alton, parts of Mission, McAllen and Edinburg.

Gonzales defeated Republican challenger Rebecca Cervera with a 67 percent margin of the vote.
