AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- A jury in Austin has convicted a South Texas legislator of multiple counts of tampering with government records and perjury.
The verdict was returned Wednesday against 52-year-old state Rep. Kino Flores.
He faces up to two years in prison and will be sentenced at a later date.
Flores, who did not testify, has denied allegations of bribery. Prosecutors said he sold access to the Legislature and accepted money in exchange for legislative considerations.
The Democrat, who has served in the Legislature since 1996, is not seeking re-election.
The verdict was first reported by the Austin American-Statesman.
