Two women are behind bars after an incident where they were allegedly intoxicated and used their children’s breath to start an anti-DWI device installed in their car.

South Padre Island police arrested 31-year-old Linda Rosales and 28-year-old Jessica Rosales on child endangerment and public intoxication charges late Saturday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called to a parking lot on the 200 block of West Saturn Avenue on the Island’s northside.

The officer wrote in a report that both women were intoxicated and had “lost all use of their mental and physical faculties.”

Investigators said the women’s five children, ages ranging from 2 weeks told to 10 years old, were at the scene.

The officer wrote in the report that the women had the children blow into an anti-DWI device in the car to get it started.

The two women appeared before a judge on Sunday where they were each issued $50,000 dollar bonds.

Public records show that Jessica Rosales is from Weslaco while Linda Rosales is from La Villa.

Court records show that Linda Rosales has a criminal history that includes state jail felony theft and three arrests for DWI.

The records show that Linda Rosales is currently serving six years probation for a December 2007 DWI case.

It was not immediately clear how Saturday's arrest would affect her status in that case.
