AUSTIN, TEXAS (AP) -- Authorities at the University of Texas are releasing audio and video recordings of the chaos that unfolded after Colton Joshua Tooley opened fire on the school campus last month, eventually turning the gun on himself.
In one of more than a dozen 911 calls released Wednesday, a university employee who identified himself as Tony Guzman reported seeing Tooley, 19, walking down the street carrying an AK-47. Guzman describes the scene as the dispatcher calls on a police radio to get officers to the scene.
"He fired several shots," Guzman says on the recording. "It looked like live rounds that he fired because I saw leaves falling from the trees."
Tooley fired shots but didn't hit anyone as students and university employees scrambled for cover in the Sept. 28 shooting.
With police closing in, he wound up in a campus library and turned the weapon on himself.
