A Brownsville man is behind bars after going on a robbery spreed where said he was "polite" and "courteous" and even offered to give them his gun in exchange for cash.
Brownsville police arrested 26-year-old Carlos Treviño on three counts of robbery and one count of aggravated robbery on Sunday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Treviño matched the description of a man who robbed a Stripes convenience store off East 14th and Lincoln Streets around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Store clerks said Treviño came in the store two times and was polite and courteous during both visits.
During the second visit, Treviño told the clerk that he had a gun and needed money.
The clerk reportedly talked Treviño out of the robbery.
Investigators said Treviño left the store empty-handed and patrol officers stopped him down the street on International Boulevard.
Police said detectives were able to link Treviño to at least three other robberies in the area:
September 26th
Stripes
2258 East Avenue
$20
September 23rd
McDonalds
1104 International Blvd
$40
August 31st
Stripes
845 International Blvd
$20
In each case, police said Treviño was polite and friendly.
Treviño allegedly told the victims that he needed cash and was willing to leave the gun as collateral.
The 26-year-old man faced a Brownsville municipal judge on Monday morning where he was issued a total in $70,000 dollars in bonds.
