A national survey ranks Harlingen residents with the lowest average credit score in the United States.
Experian released their findings on their website on Wednesday.
The company's interactive map shows that Harlingen residents had an average credit score of 684, the lowest in the United States.
The survey showed Harlingen residents had an average of 1.4 open credit cards with an average of $23,474 dollar in debt.
With a populartion of 65,289 people, Harlingen had 11.70 percent unemployment and 303 home foreclosures.
Three other Texas cities made the Lowest 10 Credit Scores list: Corpus Christi (#3), El Paso (#5) and Tyler (#10).
The survey listed the 10 cities with the lowest credit scores as:
1. Harlingen, TX
2. Jackson, MS
3. Corpus Christi, TX
4. Shreveport, LA
5. El Paso, TX
6. Monroe, LA
7. Las Vegas, NV
8. Bakersfield, CA
9. Myrtle Beach, SC
10. Tyler, TX
Residents of Minneapolis, Minneosta had higher debt and unemployment but managed to get the number one spot as as the city with the highest average credit score of 787.

4. Green Bay, WI
5. San Francisco, CA
