A juvenile justice judge ordered a Brownsville teenager to remain custody for the murder of Los Fresnos High School student Tiffany Galvan.
The 16-year-old murder suspect appeared before Judge Menton Murray at the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Justice in San Benito on Friday afternoon.
Both the boy's parents Javier and Lucy de la Torre and Galvan's mother Maria Esther Galvanwere present in the juvenile justice courtroom.
The boy asked Judge Murray if he could be released to custody of his parents.
Judge Murray denied the request because of the nature of the crime and then set another hearing for October 8th.
The boy's parents and attorney told Action 4 News that they'll make the request again to have him released at that hearing.
The 16-year-old boy, a football player for Lopez High School in Brownsville, is accused of murdering Galvan at Benavides Park.
Preliminary autopsy results show that Galvan died from multiple stab wounds in an act of homicidal violence.
