Texas is dealing with a billion dollar deficit that means all options for revenue are on the table.

Including, what the state of Texas is proposing.

It's one of  the fiercest rivalries in all of sports, the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners.

This rivalry may hit the roadway that's because the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is announcing that next week, they may approve the sales of customized OU llicense plates.

Bob Glatz tells Action 4 News, "I think it's a great idea anything Texas can do to raise a little money and have some fun why not, I think it's a great idea."

Mark Randall with the Texas DMV says UT fans have nothing to worry about because all the money stays in Texas.

In fact, specialty plates brought in more than 10-million dollars last year.

Randell says, "It might increase the rivalry.

It also might increase the sale of UT plates, that's a good revenue generator."

The DMV will vote on the issue August 25th.

If all goes through as it is expected to, My Plates, the company that makes the tags hopes to have the OU Plates ready by October.
