A Port Isabel man remains behind bars after he was allegedly involved in an auto accident while under the influence of alcohol.

South Padre Island police arrested 33-year-old Roberto Carlos Aguilera under two intoxication assault and two failure to stop and render aid charges.

Investigators told Action 4 News that patrol officer saw a two-car accident on the 5300 block of Park Road 100.

Aguilera allegedly got out of his Nissan pickup truck and ran into the nearby Corral Reef bar.

The 33-year-old Port Isabel man was escorted out of the bar and placed in police custody.

Officer allege that Aguilera had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Aguilera remains in the Cameron County Jail under $20,000 dollars in bonds.
