Authorities have released the identity of a 37-year-old man who died after rear-ending an 18-wheeler off East 14th Street 48 in Brownsville.

Investigators said the fatal wreck happened on East 14th Street just a few blocks north of East Price Road around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Cameron County Justice of the Peace Tony Torres pronounced 37-year-old Enrique Calvillo, Jr. dead at the scene.

Brownsville police told Action 4 News that Calvillo was behind the wheel of a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche when he rear-ended an 18-wheeler near McCoy’s Hardware Store.

Officers said the impact of the crash caused the 18-wheeler to hit another 18-wheeler in front of it.

Investigators identified the driver of the 18-wheeler as 49-year-old Joe Fred Quezada, who was rushed to the Valley Regional Medical Medical Center.
