According to some reports, as many as 30% of Americans are overweight.

Experts are blaming things like oversized portions at restaurants and fatty fast food.

But what about the way we’re paying for it all?

Turns out that the bulge in your waistline may be at least partially due to that bulge in your wallet.

Nearly all fast-food chains are now accepting plastic. It’s a trend that’s adding to both bottom lines of the chains…and the bottoms of their customers.

Americans spend 160 billion dollars a year on fast food.

According to a study by Visa of 100,000 restaurant transactions, people who pay with plastic spent an average of 30 percent more than those who paid with cash.

What is that 30% buying? Could be biggie-sizing..could be a desert.

Wherever its going…the odds are good its ultimately showing up somewhere besides on a monthly statement.

And now paying with plastic is becoming even more convenient…in many restaurants, fast-pay technology is now being used…so all you have to do is wave your card at a reader rather than handing it over.

So if you want to trim your budget and your waistline, try taking the plastic out of your diet.

That's one way to save...I've got more than 200 more. They're waiting for you right here at moneytalksnews.com.
