Funeral services pending for former Harlingen Mayor Bill Card

Funeral services remain pending for former Harlingen Mayor Bill William "Bill" Card.

The former four-term mayor passed away on Sunday at the age of 88.

The Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home told Action 4 News that Card died of natural causes. 

Card was a retired colonel with the U.S. Marines who later served as top administrator of Harlingen's Marine Military Academy.

He later became presdient of First National Bank of Harlingen and then served four terms as mayor from the late 1980s to the late 1990s.
