The 13th Court of Appeals has sided with Cameron County Commissioner's Court in an legal feud with the District Attorney's Office.

The two political bodies had been at odds over whether or not the District Attorney's Office had the exclusive authority to represent the county in lawsuits and other civil matters.

The Commissioner's Court favored being able to choose who represents it.

The dispute ended up in a lawsuit putting both  the Commissioner's Court and the District Attorney's Office against each other.

Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos said he and the commissioners were pleased with the 13th Court of Appeals decision.

District Attorney Armando Villalobos was not immediately available for comment as he was in court for the John Allen Rubio capital murder trial.
