Falcon Dam is at record level and water is still rising.
Action 4 takes a closer look at the situation, as floodwaters continue to enter from the Rio Grande.
Judge Rene Ramirez with Hidalgo County tells Action for News, "The event that we are experiencing right now has brought more water than what Beulah brought us."
Action 4 News got an exclusive look at Ariel images from the dam, as water rushes into the Rio Grande. Flowing to places like La Grulla, Los Ebanos and Rio Grande City.
Areas all under a mandatory evacuation.
Rio Grande City Mayor Ruben Villarreal says, "This river rise is just getting started and we have along way to go."
Action 4 News caught up with people in La Grulla, those we spoke with are following the mandatory evacuation orders.
While law enforcement officers are stepping up patrols.
Officer San Juanita Trevino says, "We will have extra patrol during the night, we have a road block, we ask why they're coming into the city and their purpose and letting them they don't have that much time to be in here."
Meanwhile crews continue working on a levee in Peñitas.
On Wednesday action 4 news first uncovered the levee had over a dozen leaks in it.”
Were told if water continues to rise the wall won't be able to handle the pressure.
That's why crews are busy trying to fix the situation.
Judge Rene Ramirez says, "They're basically widening and giving support to the levees so where you had ground erosion because of the splashing of water they insert these boulders that go ahead and prevent that and keep the integrity of that levee."
Meanwhile the flooding is evident is in places like Chimney Park near Mission.
The area a favorite among winter Texans is now almost completely covered with water.
As officials prepare for what is to come, they do have a reminder for the public.
Judge Ramirez says, "Stay clear of the levees and please do not tamper with the gates because that's really causing precious man hours to be diverted from other areas that need it."
As far as the Levee in Peñitas, the City Manager of PPeñitas Juan Ortiz tells Action 4 News crews will be working all night putting dirt around the pump station there in case the levee does break.
The south part of Peñitas is still under a voluntary evacuation but that could change by Friday depending on the situation.
