McAllen leaders launch bottled water drive for Monterrey

McAllen community leaders are collecting cases of bottled water drive for Hurricane Alex victims in Monterrey.

The Category 2 Storm hit the Tamaulipas coast last week but did the worst damage in the mountains of Nuevo Leon.

Hurricane Alex flooding rivers and creeks in Monterrey creating millions of dollars worth of damage.

Many parts of the city are without drinking water.

The City of McAllen, Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation are asking the community and businesses to participate by donating bottled water cases.

Once collected, the cases will be delivered on an 18-wheeler to hurricane victims in Monterrey.

Collection drive officials said the cases must be delivered o the McAllen Chamber of Commerce located at 1200 Ash Ave. 

Water donations will be received at the Chamber parking lot from Thursday and Friday, July 8-10, Saturday, July 11 and on Monday, July 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
