An alleged cocaine dealer from Lopezville is facing federal charges after authorities said they found an Uzi during a traffic stop at UTPA.
U.S Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) agents filed a federal gun charge against Ralph Gutierrez on Wednesday.
Court records released Friday show that the 20-year-old Hidalgo County man was pulled over by UTPA police for running a stop sign this past weekend.
Gutierrez allegedly got out of his Audi and yelled that he had a bomb in his car.
The UTPA officer searched Gutierrez and allegedly found four baggies of cocaine in one of his pockets.
The officer allegedly saw the Uzi in the backseat of Gutierrez's car.
According to a criminal complaint, Gutierrez allegedly told ATF agents that he's a cocaine dealer from Lopezville.
The Hidalgo County man allegedly told agents he was high on cocaine at the time of his arrest but was a successful dealer.
He told agents he bought the Uzi to protect himself from other people from Lopezville who were jealous of the money he was making.
Gutierrez told agents he had to move out of Lopezville because of the people.
He's now expected to face a federal judge in the ATF case.
Public records show that Gutierrez previously received six months probation for a marijuana arrest in Hidalgo County.
