Brownsville police told Action 4 News that a tip led them to find and recover a historic statue stolen from a local Catholic school.

A statue of the Lady of Lourdes was stolen from the Incarnate Word Academy at 200 Resaca Blvd.

Police said investigators received a Crime Stoppers tip Thursday night enabling officers to recover the 150-year statue.

This case is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Police told reporters at press conference that a woman bought the statue from two men for $20 dollars.

Investigators said the woman learned statue was stolen after watching a report on television and then called police.

The indentity of the two men was not known but authorities originally said they would not press charges against the people who stole the statue if it was safely returned.
