Willacy County is the only county in the Rio Grande Valley where food establishments get inspected by the state.

The Food Patrol dug up the county’s health inspection reports out of Austin to share restaurant and other kitchen scores for the months January - May of 2010.

The results were shocking out of Raymondville where not a single kitchen scored zero demerits.

In fact, not only were there no top performers but seven food establishments, including a Dairy Queen and a Subway, scored a high number of demerits.

Subway on 122 N Expressway 77 had the dirtiest health report with 40 demerits.

The restaurant was one of four featured by the Food Patrol for having rodent contamination.
