Victim in double Hargill shooting identified

Authorities have identified a man who was killed west of the rural Hidalgo County community of Hargill.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office identified Luis Ontiveros as the victim one of two victims in a double shooting reported late Thursday afternoon.

Authorities received a call about a woman was found laying on the ground with several gunshot wounds shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies and members of the gang unit searched the area.

The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital where she is batling for her life.

Investigators released a previous mugshot of Ontiveros on Friday afternoon.

Ontiveros' criminal history was not immediately available.
