Members of the Action 4 News team worked together to bring you this report.

An Edinburg soldier has been killed in Afghanistan.

Sources told Action 4 News that Derik Hernandez died on Sunday.

The Rio Grande Valley native is the latest casualty from the war on terror.

He was serving as a United States Marine in Afghanistan.

Hernandez graduated from high school back in 2008.
