AUSTIN, TEXAS (AP) -- Nine of 10 Texas public high school seniors passed the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills required for graduation this year.

The Texas Education Agency announced the results Thursday.

It also announced that passing rates improved for students in grades 3-5 and 7-11 that took the state's standardized test, and that high school juniors also improved.

However, the TEA says the passing rate for those in grades 6 and 8 fell slightly due to raised passing standards.
