Authorities temporarily warned area residents to avoid major roads on Reynosa's southside following two Thursday afternoon incidents.

Reynosa city officials issued their first warning involving a "situation of risk" via their Twitter account at 3:24 p.m. Thursday.

Officials urged the public to avoid the a stretch of the highway to Matamoros next to the Colonia Jose Lopez Portillo III.

Another warning was issued at 3:43 p.m. Thursday telling residents to avoid an area just north of there.

City officials reproted a "situation of risk" off Bulevar Morelos near the Soriana supermarket at the Plaza del Rio.

Authorities did not specify the risk but past warnings have turned about to be anything from shootouts to grenades to narcoblockades.

Tamaulipas state officials used to post information about shootouts across the state but took the site down for "reconstruction" last week.

Users on twitter posted photos from Reynosa.

One Twitter user reported that soldiers yelled "fire...fire..." and everyone went running.

The incident follows the Wednesday afternoon deaths of three teens involved in a chase with the Mexican Army on the highway to Nuevo Laredo.
