Mercedes man allegedly shoots and kills wife

A 36-year-old man is in custody this morning after allegedly shooting and killing his 36-year-old wife.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies confirmed the incident.

Investigators told Action 4 News it happened just outside Mercedes at a home on Guerra Street, west of Mile One East and Mile 9 North.

According to deputies, a 15-year-old nephew reported the shooting around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said four other children were present at the time of the shooting.
