A recount for Harlingen City Commissioner has ended with the incumbent keeping his seat by 13 votes.

Harlingen city officials confirmed that Robert Leftwich won the recount, which took place on Saturday morning.

City officials had initially reported that Leftwich lost his District 2 City Commissioner seat by three votes to challenger Elaine Flores during the May 8th election.

Leftwich contested the provisional ballots and later asked for a full recount.

Election officials recounted the ballots and reported that he won race by 13 votes.

Leftwich and District 1 winner Gus Ruiz are expected to be sworn during the City Commission's next meeting on Wednesday.
