After two years on the run, a man who escaped from a federal prison camp near Beaumont is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley.
U.S. Marshalls arrested Richard Cajero in Mission on Thursday.
Authorities told Action 4 News that Cajero escped from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons SAT Camp in Beaumont.
Cajero had served one year out of a 10-year sentence in a marijuana case before escaping in March 2008.
Investigators told Action 4 News that a task force tracked Cajero down to a house on the 2000 block of Bradley Street in Mission on Thursday.
Cajero allegedly tried to flee in his car and then on foot but he was caught while trying to climb over a fence.
He’s now back in custody where he’s expected to face a federal judge in McAllen.
If convicted in the escape charge, Cajero could face five additional years to his sentence.
