Mexican authorities are investigating the deaths of two men and a woman whose bodies were found in a car along the highway and inside a bar outside MIguel Aleman.
Tamaulipas state officials reported the three people's deaths on Thursday morning.
Investigators reported that a man and woman's bodies were found inside a car near the Kilometer 83 marker of the Miguel Aleman-Camargo Highway. Both had been shot.
Authorities said the a man's body was also found inside a bar in the Town of Los Guerra, located just west of Miguel Aleman. He had also been shot.
Officials did not release names of the three alleged victims but their deaths remain under investigation by state authorties.
The three deaths are just the latest ones reported along "La Frontera Chica" or "Little Border" -- an area across the Rio Grande from Starr and Zapata Counties.
According to previous reports, at least 17 people have been killed in the Miguel Aleman area in April alone.
Eight people were reportedly killed inside and outside a bar in Los Guerra earlier this month.
Authorities never relesed the name of the bar or those killed in the incident.
It's not clear if the man whose body was found inside the bar on Thursday morning was found inside the same bar.
Tamaulipas and its "Frontera Chica" have seen an explosion of violence since late February as drug trafficking organizations battle for control of lucrative smuggling routes.
The Mexican Army and Navy have also been involved in armed clashes with criminals in the area.
