Authorities have temporarily closed part of McAllen's Bicentennial Boulevard after a train derailed on Tuesday afternoon.

McAllen firefighters told Action 4 News that the trained derailed on Bicentennial Boulevard between Tamarack and Pecan Streets.

That section of Bicentennial Boulevard remains closed while crews work to clear up the scene of the derailment.

Authorities estimate the Bicentennial Boulevard will remain closed until at least 6 p.m.

A cause of the derailment remains under investigation.

An Action 4 News viewer submitted a photo from the scene.
