A Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office sergeant spent part of his weekend behind bars after being arrested in a DWI case.

Pharr police arrested Sgt. Mauricio Ramos on a DWI charge around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the arrest happened in the parking lot of a Whataburger restaurant off Cage Boulevard and the frontage road of U.S. Expressway 83.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño reported that Ramos has been placed on paid administrative suspension for three days.

Treviño reporting the incident is being investigated by his agency’s Internal Affairs Unit.
