Three wounded in Ciudad Mier shootout

Three men were reported as wounded after allegedly being involved in a shootout between two groups of armed rivals in Ciudad Mier.

Tamaulipas state officials reported that the shootout took place on Friday afternoon.

Ciudad Mier is located in an area across the border from the Zapata and Starr County lines.

Not many details were given but state officials reported on their website that gunfire erupted between two groups of armed men.

Three of the men were wounded while several cars were damaged by gunfire.

State and federal authorities were able to restore order.

The case remains under investigation by state authorities.
