Port Isabel man jailed in child sex abuse case

A Port Isabel man is behind bars after he allegedly sexually abused a 14-year-old girl.

Port Isabel police arrested 30-year-old Nestor Vega Mendez earlier this week.

He's facing four counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Investigators told Action 4 News a 14-year-old girl made an outcry in the case.

Mendez remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under $300,000 dollars in bonds.
