Several men are behind bars and another is hospitalized following two separate chases in Matamoros on Wednesday.
The Mexican Navy told Action 4 News that authorities spotted a group of eight suspicious men off Calle Casildo Rodriguez in the Colonia Libertad.
The men allegedly fired their weapons and fled the scene.
The Mexican Navy fired back wounding 33-year-old Honduran national Nestor David Amador.
Authorities found a 9mm gun at the scene and the following three suspects hiding inside a wooden shack:
- Neri Alberto Baide, 19
- Erman Giovanni Rubio-Silva, 20
- Jaime Ayala-Arias, 28
Authorities reported Baide and Rubio-Silva are Honduran nationals while Ayala-Arias is from El Salvador.
Amador was taken to a Navy hospital and later the Alfredo Pumarejo General Hospital in Matamoros for treatment.
In a separate incident, the Mexican Navy reported getting into another chase with another group of suspects off Calle Costa Rica in the Colonia Morelos.
The men bailed out of the car and fled on foot. Three suspects were caught about two blocks way.
Authorities identified them as:
- Sergio Castillo-Busto, 22
- Juan Enrique Pulido-De la Cruz, 23
- Juan Antonio Villarreal-Martinez, 19
Authorities searched their car and allegedly found 200 baggies of marijuana and 101 baggies of crack cocaine inside.
