The Mexican Navy has identified four law enforcement officials who were arrested in Valle Hermoso on Wednesday.
Action 4 News first reported the arrests of three municipal police officers and one state police officer yesterday.
The Tamaulipas Ministry of Public Safety (SSP) confirmed the arrests but the Mexican Navy did not immediately respond to inquiries seeking comment.
But the Mexican Navy confirmed on Thursday that the following four Valle Hermoso municipal police officers had been arrested:
- Cristian Juan Gomez
- Eloy Perez Hernandez
- Arnulfo Rodriugez Rivas
The Mexican Navy said one Tamaulipas State Police officer was also arrested:
The Mexican Navy reported the four officers were inside a car that was stopped at Highway 82 and Avenida Eduardo Chavez.
Authorities seized guns, ammo and small amount of marijuana.
The four officers were turned over to the custody of federal prosecutors in Matamoros where their case remains under investigation.
