A Matamoros man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to smuggle more about $468,000 dollars worth of meth on Easter Sunday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested Eleazar Garcia-Flores under federal drug charges on Sunday.
Customs officers told Action 4 News that 22-year-old man drove up from Mexico at Brownsville's B&M International Bridge in a Ford Ranger.
Authorities allegedly found 22 packages with about 31.2 pounds of methamphetamines hidden in the back wall of the truck.
Court records show that Garcia-Flores appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Monday morning.
Judge Morgan denied bond for Garcia-Flores until a Thursday afternoon hearing.
