A company at the Port Of Brownsville has been linked to a scandal involving up to millions of dollars of oil stolen from Mexico’s PEMEX.
Federal prosecutors have charged Continental Fuels president Tim Brink with conspiracy to sell the stolen oil.
Brink is the fifth person to be charged in a U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcemet (ICE) investigation into the thefts.
According to a criminal information filed in his case, Brink knew the oil was stolen and had it delivered to his company’s Port Of Brownsville facility.
Brink and his company allegedly took the stolen oil and then sold it to larger companies turning an estimated profit from $120,000 to $2 million dollars.
Court records outlined alleged deliveries involving at least 26 tanker loads of stolen oil between January and March 2009.
A Port of Brownsville directory shows the company’s facility is located at 10500 Old Texas Highway 48.
Court records show that Brink is out on a $50,000 unsecured bond expected to appear before Judge Ewing Werlein in Houston on May 14th.
Brink was charged back in January but records in his case were not unsealed until March 24th when he made his initial appearance in federal court.
