Tuesday proved to be a bloody day south of the Rio Grande Valley.
Tamaulipas state officials reported the deaths of 15 people were killed and four people injured in separate shootouts in Reynosa, Rio Bravo, Valadeces and Diaz Ordaz.
The first series of shoouts were reported in Reynosa on Tuesday morning.
Armed suspects allegedly set up a series of roadblocks following shootouts with the Mexican army.
Tamaulipas state officials reported one civilian was injured near the Reynosa airport as part of the violence.
That same morning, a shootout between Mexican soldiers and armed suspects left three people dead in Rio Bravo.
Later in the evening, Reynosa city officials reported incidents on the highways to Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo.
The Tamaulipas Ministry of Public Safety (SSP) confirmed that a gun battle took place near a PEMEX facility along the highway to Monterrey.
The firefight between Mexican soldiers and armed suspects ended with seven people killed.
The SSP confirmed two other armed conflicts in west of Reynosa in and around Diaz Ordaz, a city located south of La Joya, Texas.
Two rival groups allegedly fought in Valadeces, a town located between Diaz Ordaz and Camargo on the highway to Nuevo Laredo.
The SSP reported on Tuesday night that five people were killed in the violence in Valadeces.
Unknown suspects also allegedly burned the town's fire truck, torched an ambulance and did a driveby shooting at the local police station.
The SSP reported that a conflict between armed rivals in Diaz Ordaz left three innocent bystanders injured.
Hundreds of miles away from the border in Tampico, the SSP reported another three people were killed in another shootout between armed civilians.
The total 24-hour death toll for Tamaulipas is 18 people killed and four injured in the latest round of violence throughout the state.
State officials report that federal authorities are investigating the incidents.
