Sergio Muñoz Jr. easily slid into the Texas State Representative District 36 seat on Tuesday night.

The seat had been vacated by outgoing Rep. Ismael "Kino" Flores, who faces trial on criminal charges in Austin.

Muñoz, the son of a former state reprsentative, won the Democratic Party primary with 61 percent of the vote on Tuesday night.

Opponent Sandra Rodriguez received 39 percent of the voate and conceded defeated earlier in the night.

Muñoz does not have an Republican challenger in November and is expected to easily slide into state representative seat.
