A McAllen police officer is facing criminal charges after being arrested by state troopers over the weekend.
McAllen Police Sgt. Joel Morales tells Action 4 News that officer Jorge Ibarra was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety state troopers over the weekend.
Ibarra has been charged with DWI.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Ibarra hit a fence on FM 907, south of of Minnesota Road in Alamo.
Authorities said Ibarra was taken to the Hidalgo County Jail where he allegedly refused to take the breathalyzer.
Morales told Action 4 news that an internal investigation into Officer Ibarra's conduct has been launched.
