Indian Lake's top cop said his lawyer plans to file a motion to get the indictment against him on a charge of Official Oppression quashed.

“This is malicious prosecution... It's politically motivated," Chambers said.

The indictment stems from a July, 2009 council meeting where an elderly woman was detained and later charged by the chief for allegedly disrupting a public meeting.

Action 4 News obtained an exclusive audio recording and separate video from the meeting in question.

Eurline Atkins claimed she was forcibly removed from the podium by Chief Chambers and bruised in the process.

"He pulled my arm... I may be fat and old... But it hurt," Atkins said in an interview with Action 4 News last July.

In addition to the charge against the 76-year-old, Chief Chambers has also filed a civil suit for “defamation of character.”  He claimed the bruise on Atkins occurred before the incident at the podium.

Reporter: "Do you ever look back and say I shouldn't have messed with Eurline?”
Chief: “No… I don't... I did things exactly the way they should have been handled."

Chief Chambers will be formally arraigned April 13th, 2010 at 8am.  He said he has no plans to drop out of the race for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 6, in Cameron County as the Republican candidate.

Atkins is also expected in court in April for two separate cases against her.
