Authorities confirmed that a sweep targeting illegal immigrants with criminal records included 24 arrests in the Rio Grande Valley.
U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents ended the three-day sweep late Thursday night.
According to ICE figures, 284 illegal immigrants with criminal histories were arrested during the operation.
ICE officials said 160 of the immigrants had committed violent crimes while another 20 had been accused into sexual crimes.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area had the largest number of arrests.
ICE regional spokeswoman Nina Pruneda told Action 4 News that 24 criminal aliens were arrested in the Valley as part of the statewide operation.
