A former Pharr jailer is facing a new child molestation charge based on an incident that allegedly took place on South Padre Island.
Alfredo Palacios III appeared before Cameron County Justice of the Peace Bennie Ochoa in Port Isabel on Tuesday afternoon.
Cameron County Precicnt 1 Constables charged the former Pharr jailer with an indencency with a child charge.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the alleged molestation incident was reported to have taken place at Isla Blanca Park back in July 2009.
Constable Horacio Zamora said the victim in the case is the same girl in a case filed by Pharr police last week.
Pharr Police Department officials fired from Palacios from his job as a jailer after he was charged with indecency with a child for another July 2009 incident.
Palacios was free on bond for the Pharr case but turned himself to deputy constables on Tuesday afternoon.
Judge Ochoa denied a request to give Palacios a personal recognizance bond, issuing a $15,000 dollar bond instead.
Palacios was taken into custody by deputy constables.
The former jailer's attorney Rick Salinas told Action 4 News that he feels his client will be cleared of the charges.
