The Smucker family of Pennsylvania calls building homes for the poor of the Rio Grande Valley their annual vacation.
Paul Smucker, his six children and 18 grandchildren volunteer to build homes for poor families in either Florida or the Valley every February.
This year, the family packed a lot of volunteer power for to help Proyecto Azteca build a home in Pharr.
Proyecto Azteca organizers told Action 4 News that it’s easy to find volunteers around Thanksgiving and Christmas but a challenge January through October.
The organization said the Smucker family helped them build a home for a needy family.
