SAN MARCOS -- Action 4 Sports has learned that Rio Grande Valley football star Mishak Rivas may be moving closer to home.

The former Weslaco football star left the Valley to play for the Texas State University Bobcats.

Rivas told Action 4 Sports that he’s not in school this semester and looking to transfer to Texas A&M University in Kingsville in the fall.

The football star said the coach who recruited him to play at TSU left for the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Rivas said another factor was also getting considerably less playing time on the field with the Bobcats.

The Valley’s all-time single season rushing leader said he’s hoping to secure a football scholarship at TAMUK.

Mishak’s 2008-2009 Stats

65 receptions
884 yards
7 touchdowns

40 received in 2008 with 25 in 2009

21 kick returns in 2009 for 480 yards
